Welcome to Friends of Crieff Cemetery

Friends of Crieff Cemetery are partnered with Perth & Kinross Council

for the upkeep of Crieff Cemetery.

Our partnership agreement comes under the Friends of Cemeteries initiative.

Our Mission Statement:

To create and foster a community group that is dedicated to helping

Perth & Kinross Council for the upkeep of Crieff Cemetery.

To encourage donations to the group over social

networking and direct contact with other community groups.

To be inclusive and welcoming to anyone who

wishes to volunteer skills or assets that can help us achieve

our goals.

To liaise with PKC regularly to create a feasible

and friendly working relationship.

To respect the gravesites regarding the deceased

therein and their living relatives.

The Friends of Cemeteries initiative was instigated on 8th March 2022,

after Environment and Infrastructure Convenor Angus Forbes visited

Sillerburn Cemetery, Kirkmichael,

Blairgowrie.

He said, “Cemeteries are not just final resting places, they are

also places of comfort, as well as Greenspaces which are important

to their communities and places of

historical interest.”

“The Council carries out routine maintenance of cemeteries, but the

Friends of Cemeteries scheme supports communities and volunteers

to work with the Bereavement Services team to carry out

improvement works and promote pride of place.”

“When people visit to remember loved ones, they want to do so

in the nicest possible surroundings and I’m sure all of our Friends

groups will help make our cemeteries more welcoming

and comforting places to visit.”

We aim to make this volunteer group as accessible as

possible to whoever wishes to join.

Our group activities and projects include:

Litterpicking, pruning, bench renovating, gravestone research,

painting, grass raking, fountain refurbishment project.
